Well folks, another week of horses, cattle, cowboys, and cowgirls has passed in Estes Park, Colorado.   The Rodeo With Altitude takes over our little town for one week in July every year.  The week is filled with contestants from all over the country, beautiful rodeo queens, and different benefits that the rodeo supports such as, breast cancer awareness.  This year it kicked off with an energetic parade on Wednesday July 5th.   The parade consisted of Miss Rodeo America, rodeo clowns, committee members,  fire trucks, and marching bands.  The horses were sporting sparkles and bright colors, trucks and trailers were shined and polished, and of course the queens had the perfect amount of big, curly hair.   The parade was followed with the first rodeo performance starting at 6:30 that evening.

Throughout the week rodeo performances have different themes.  Take Thursday July 6th for example.  The theme was for all kids to dress like a rodeo clown.  How can you top that off?  All of the little ones with painted faces, boots, hats, and colorful flags hanging off of their trousers.  "Tough Enough To Wear Pink" was the next theme of the rodeo.  That took place during the Saturday performance in honor of breast cancer awareness.

The rodeo is truly an event for the whole family.  With shopping, music, games, trucks, and mutton bustin' all on the rodeo grounds, there is something for mom, dad, and kids of all ages to enjoy.  If you haven't already been to one, come to Estes Park next July to get a taste of the wild west.  But, why stop at one?  I, personally, go every year.  The Rooftop Rodeo has a wonderful atmosphere and you can always count on it being different than before.
